New Years Resolutions - Give up Smoking

The last of the Big New Year’s resolutions is generally the “Give Up Smoking” one. It was for me a couple of years ago, so the beginning of 2008 was a celebration of TWO smokefree years.

I know lots of people who have tried lots of different ways to give up the tobacco sticks. From hypnosis to patches to gum to books and tapes or just good old cold turkey, different things work for different people. And what works for one, might not work for you.

If you want to check out the options for giving up smoking you can do a library catalogue search under “Smoking – Cessation Programmes” and you will find a number of good books on our shelves to help you get started.

One of the most popular books has always been Allen Carr’s Easy Way to Stop Smoking, but this is certainly not the only book we have, and in fact not the only title written by Allen Carr. So have a look at the shelves in the region of 613.85 to see what else we have on the subject.

There are also some great support networks and websites available via the internet. A New Zealand site is the Quit Me Mutu website which has some great resources and links.
GOOD LUCK.
