Many Happy Returns

This weekend is Queens Birthday Weekend. While for many it is simply the last long weekend before we struggle through winter, for others it is the celebration of the Birthday of the British Monarch. Queen Elizabeth II personally celebrates her birthday in April, but dating from Edward VII, the British Monarchs have officially celebrated during the warmer northern months.

The weather forecast is for rain in our part of the country this weekend, so it might be a good time to visit the library and grab a book. Why not make it about some of the Monarchs from around the world. Here are some ideas.

There is an excellent Children's Fiction series The Royal Diaries which writes of events in the lives of young royals in diary form. Princesses from Africa, Japan and Europe are all represented in this series.
