The Storylines Festival is a celebration of New Zealand Children's Writers and Illustrators. (By rights I should let kowhai reader write about this one but the programme for Sunday's free family day is just so exciting that I can't help myself.)Doors open at the Aotea Centre at 9.45am. There are 5 levels of activities plus Borders. Facepainting, puppets, story reading, crafts, theatre - there's something for everyone and it's all FREE.
Who'll be there? Our very own Maria Gill along with Margaret Mahy, Martin Baynton, Penelope Todd and more. One of the highlights has to be the Kids Lit Quiz with QuizMaster Wayne Mills. I reckon there'll be plenty to keep the kids amused.

Thanks RL. I am just a bit slower off the mark than you - plus I am bitterly disappointed that I am not going to be able to make it to the Family Day this year (my other passion of netball has got in the way again). Especially as I have not seen the wonderful Margaret Mahy in person and I am missing my opportunity once again to have my copy of "Down the Back of the Chair" signed for my neice.
Get a sneak preview of Starfish Magic who are performing on the Blues Bar on Level 3. They will be at Warkworth Library with Funky Fairytales on Friday 11th September at 6pm.
I will be featuring many of the authors who will be at Storylines in my Storytime session at Warkworth tomorrow morning at 10.30am (my own little festival). So come along to join in the fun or make the effort to head down to Auckland on Sunday. It is fun, well run and there is plenty for kids OF ALL AGES.
