When I was just starting my library career an Irish/American author published a memoir which the library could not buy enough copies of. It was called "Angela's Ashes." The author, Frank McCourt, wrote about growing up in poverty in the slums in Limerick, Ireland. It caused a sensation all around the world and won the Pulitzer Prize in 1997.
McCourt died on Sunday. He had been very ill with meningitis and was undergoing treatment for cancer.
His other titles are the sequel to Angela's Ashes "Tis" and "Teacher man" for adults; "Angela and the baby Jesus" for children.
