"Being a geek is all about being honest about what you enjoy and not being afraid to demonstrate that affection. It means never having to play it cool about how much you like something. It's basically a license to proudly emote on a somewhat childish level rather than behave like a supposed adult. Being a geek is extremely liberating."
- Simon Pegg
Our 'geeky links' posts are becoming quite popular with you all. YAY geeky links! What does this tell me? That you guys are just as weird as I am. Respect. Some of you have emailed me asking, "Where do you find this bizarre stuff? Do you make it all up? And how do you choose what to highlight and what not to?" You guys are NOSEY, and because I do adore sharing, here are my answers: "The interwebs is MADE for stuff like this, so that's where I find it. No, I don't make it all up - my brain isn't half as interesting (although maybe it is half as scary). And I just choose whatever makes me fangirl and SQUEE and cry and laugh and coo the loudest." My usual scientific method. Everything should be run like this. (No, no it really shouldn't). I often think, though, that if this stuff makes me laugh and smile and whatever, then why not share it? If it does the same for others then YAY, hopefully they share it. A sort of technological 'pay it forward,' if you will. So...pay it forward, guys! Pay it forward :)
Here's a roundup of 5 geeky links I think you might get a kick out of. As ever, feel free to recommend your own in the comments section.
So Geek Chick on Tumblr
From their Tumblr: "How did SoGeekChic come to be? Once upon a time at a University far, far away, two college freshman united over a love of late night breakfast. Over plates of bacon and eggs, Emily and Alexi joined forces in common effort to spread geekdom throughout the world.
Now graduates (who still can’t really call themselves adults), SoGeekChic has become their weapon of mass education for men and women alike."

Geekapella clip: Zelda - Ocarina of Time: Gerudo Valley on YouTube
From YouTube: "We're your two Australian buddies. We make Sketches, Music Videos and Video Game Parodies. Usually they're funny."
Max and Sam are Geekapella, and they... I'm not sure how to describe them. In fact, I think I can't. They put together acapella covers of err video games/video game music. This particular one is from Zelda.
Lifehacker: This entire video was shot with Google glasses
Google Glasses. They look a little...strange, and maybe we're not all models or Diane Von Furstenberg, and maybe I'm not attending NZ Fashion Week let alone the one featured in this clip. HOWEVER, even you have to admit this is a lot cooler (and slightly trippier) to look at than the earlier stuff that was floating around about Google Glasses.
The Geek Twins: Would you rather live in a 'Star Trek' or 'Star Wars' universe?
The Geek Twins are asking this of their readers right now and I think it's brilliant (possibly because I'm a dork) because THIS! This is the sixty-four thousand dollar question, yes? So...where do you sit? Star Trek or Star Wars?
Gizmodo: Artist skywrites the first thousand digits of Pi over San Francisco
Why? Because they can. Because it's pretty darn amazeballs. Because math is awesome. Because, like Dean from Supernatural, they loves them some Pi (okay, so that one was going a bit too far). No, none of these reasons (although I think YES, all of these reasons!). It was a celebration of art and technology. I think my reasons are just as valid, too. AND, by the way, very cool trick making the digits look dot-matrix-like. I could almost hear that grating noise our school printers used to make, with that kind of overriding squeal/whine that was the equivalent of a powered-up version of nails on chalkboard. FYI, one of the comments contains the F-word, so visit the site, but be aware of that fact. I agree with his comment. Well, minus the F-word.
