Music or How to Ease the Craziness of NaNoWriMo

I seem to be in a musical frame of mind lately.  Last week it was classic rock, this week it's the new artists and albums that I have been checking out and listening to over the past year.

I blame it all on the madness of NaNoWriMo which is currently making my brain so fried that the only thing I am capable of (other than writing) is listening to music.

Youtube is also partially to blame.  A click here, a click there and suddenly I'm busy checking out songs and artists that I have never heard of, all courtesy of the side bar which leds you to similar songs and artists etc. It's seriously addictive stuff.  And also a big time waster (i.e. procrastination...).

Sadly for me a lot of the songs I like aren't known and easily available on CD here which is such a pity as there is some really great music out there in Youtube land.

Still some of my favourite's are available and I've been giving them abit of thrashing in the last few months along with the classic rock featured last week and others.

New Music: September 2012

So the woman responsible for the two catchiest songs on the planet has released her album entitled ‘Kiss’. I’m talking about ‘Call My Maybe’ and ‘Good Time’ ft Owl City of course. You know those songs that will have to be surgically removed from your head? Well this album is pretty much exactly what you would expect. More catchy pop songs that make you dance around your living room and hate yourself a little bit. Actually it’s not bad. It even features a song by the Biebz (Justin Bieber) OMG!!!!
Genre: Pop
You might like if you enjoy: Selena Gomez and the Scene, Hot Chelle Rae, Justin Bieber

I would argue that Pink is the coolest person in the world but you already knew that. I’m pleased to report that she’s back with her first album since 2008 and it is classic ‘Pink’. Awesome pop hooks while being that particular brand of honest that only she can pull off.
Genre: Pop
You might like if you enjoy: Kelly Clarkson, Lily Allen (I’m finding it tricky to come up with people she’s similar to. I think that speaks for itself).

Mumford and Sons are awesome and they’re back with their second album ‘Babel’ Same familiar ‘Mumford’ sound but even better ( I know I didn’t think it was possible either). I recommend getting a vinyl copy of this one. It somehow makes it more fun to listen to.
Genre: Folk
You might like if you enjoy: Florence and the Machine, The Avett Brothers, The Civil Wars

Okay so this isn’t exactly ‘new’ music but it’s the King of Pop himself so I couldn’t leave it out. Bad 25 is a re-issue of MJ’s album iconic album in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the album. It comes with a bonus disk with demo’s, remixes and live footage from 1988 show at Wembley Stadium.
